Trauma/memory responses

I stayed at a hotel with a girl I was seeing some time ago and I remember smelling damp in the room. It reminds me of the smell of my dad's things when he passed away, and from when I was a small child.

It was a weird feeling that came over me, like I was reliving repressed memories or it reminded me of chaos. It made feel really uncomfortable.
The smell of indoor damp does that for me now, I don't like being around it.
