A Bi-Polar Story

I wonder if anyone has ever had, someone that you like a lot, give you the sweetest compliment you've ever received, then 2 days later, say things to you that were pretty much the meanest thing anyone has ever said to you. I have. And let me tell you, it cuts deeper than a razor sharp blade.

Maybe your wondering of Bipolar is correct... BUT the Person could also have BPD. Borderline Personality Disorder. It has four different types and there is a push/pull to escape real or perceived abandonment. One minute? They want to pull you close and they adore you. Then something trips that trigger and they want to push you away, devalue you and say harsh things. There's a book called "I hate you, Don't leave me" that explains BPD in depth by two mental health professionals.

It's one of my six mental illnesses and I show symptoms of all four types. Minus the manipulation of the petulant type, but double the lack of impulse control and risky behaviours of the self destructive type.

It's caused by trauma in childhood-- usually abusive environments and such, and because it can be misdiagnosed that young, they usually wait until young adulthood before diagnosing it.

@MemoirsOfTheDamned Would having consensual sex at 11 years old, like 10 times in one year do that?
@BlackPetals It was consensual, so perhaps not. Although sex within itself can be consider a risky and impulsive behaviour. Especially with multiple partners. I do know that sometimes, having sex that young is a way to cope and escape things. My sister started sexual acts at 12 to numb what she was going through and also because hormones and wanting the other person to like you are things.

I used to be the kind of person you're talking about. Thankfully years of therapy and self-development helped me heal from the trauma that was influencing that behaviour.
BlackPetals · 18-21, F
@PinkMoon Thank you for that. 🤗
Stephie · 22-25, F
I am fortunate enough not to have had that experience but I can imagine that it hurts your dignity, your value and your question yourself about why people can be so mean and also judgmental.
BlackPetals · 18-21, F
@Stephie I PM'd you. 🫣
BlackPetals · 18-21, F
@Stephie Wow. You do have some broad interests.
BlackPetals · 18-21, F
@Stephie I like sports (I play volleyball) (we're a sports family), I love animals, the outdoors, and intimacy.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I have done that to people and I feel awful about it. I try to only be nice these days.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Yeah, it is. I’ve never had that diagnosis and don’t think I am bi polar (I had a girlf who was and I didn’t have the hi’s and low’s that she did) but I do struggle with huge mood swings and sometimes I do really want to hurt people. I am trying not to be this way, but it’s hard work. @BlackPetals
BlackPetals · 18-21, F
@Strongtea Wow. Thank you for the info.

🥺 you’re welcome@BlackPetals

I like the unipolar version of myself better. :)
BlackPetals · 18-21, F
@nobodyishome I'm sure I would too. 😉
So if words mean things, why doesn't "the sweetest compliment" hold the same water?
acpguy · C
Sounds like liberals.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@acpguy that is liberalism? What does it mean :)
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@acpguy Like, freedom for expression of thought?
