Regarding head trauma.

Many of us in medical settings assume everyone knows something about head trauma. Two years ago, a friend of mine died as a result of a head concussion. Please be reminded, if you, or someone you know complains of hurting their head please remember pain is the body's way of crying for help. DO NOT ALLOW THIS PERSON TO FALL ASLEEP. CALL 911 OR TAKE THEM TO THE E.R ASAP! This is a case of better to be safe than sorry. This is NOT the time to "Man up" and pretend to be brave. Carol was only 50, in her prime of health, she bumped into a wall and told NO ONE. Carol was found dead the following day. So sad. So easily preventable.

This was how actress Natasha Richardson (Liam Neeson's wife) passed away. She had a fall during skiing on holiday back in 2009. Hit her head but thought nothing of it. Passed away the next day after her head started hurting. She was beautiful 馃槥

@DrScissorhands So tragic. My most difficult episode was a biker who slamned into a SUV that had stopped right on the highway and luggage flew out of the rear, the biker tried to avoid a collision but instead, he ended up flying front of my partners Jeep, I found him under the front end, blood from his ears and eyes. He said, "Please don't leave me" I assured him I wouldn't leave, holding him in my arms, his eyes rolled back and quietly died. Of course he was riding his bike without a helmet as so many do.

The worst highway EMT calls always seem to involve bikers being a bit too ballsy for their own good. Not a put down on bikers, just my own experience.
@Grateful4you I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and your macabre encounter with the biker. That's always a most difficult thing to comprehend- the loss of a life.

@DrScissorhands I've seen many deaths in my particular field, it's so much worse when it could have been easily avoided. If you have kids who ride a bike please make sure they wear a helmet. Too many driving cars are also taking drugs. It's not like the old days.

@DrScissorhands Yes, I remember that and it was shocking how easily she died.
@Grateful4you I'm never letting any of ours on our busy streets here on a bike. Thats a given

@DrScissorhands You're a good, responsible dad. I respect that.
