Gutted, I suspect completely dehydrated, fainted and apparently 10m tumble down steep face. I liked his shows and podcasts. Why oh why did he attempt this in the middle of the day, 42 to 44C, alone no phone, map and at 67 yes age. I read the search dogs could only do 45 to 60 mins search in the extreme heat. RIP

@Ironicman Does seem an unlikely scenario for a Doctor.
But authorities have been quick in assumptions post event rather than come out with this enlightenment while he was missing

They present it in our media as if it was almost an epidemic. Many tourists missing, some found dead.

@CrazyMusicLover The media is claiming the deaths are related to the excessive heat. The statistics quoted for the USA in 2022 are that more people died from heat the all other natural disasters combines, including hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, volcanos, etc. You don't want to blame the victim, but why risk injury or death? Last year we were in Greece and one of the historic sites we were supposed to visit was closed because they feared tourists would collapse from the heat.

@samueltyler2 Maybe it's so talked about now because it's only June and many people probably didn't expect heatwaves to come that early. Instead of going to beaches, they probably planned hiking in nature and that became fatal to them. Now I actually wonder how common it is because now it's the first time I'm hearing about a high number of missing and dead tourists in such a short period of time.

@CrazyMusicLover we now live in an era of instant news. It was always happening in certain areas and times, but you are right, this is very early.

Seems he got diverted from the path he was following, slipped and fell according to police at the scene.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
You'd think a doctor would know better than to go out in that heat.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire Well trouble is nobody knows what he was thinking, nor what actually happened and as usual the authorities are constructing a narrative that suits rather than hold an inquest to try and establish anything factual.
@LordShadowfire without water!!
