Okay so bitcoin was created by one anonymous man for digital currency aka a COMMODITY and people bought bitcoin to use as digital currency. Some bought stuff with it and some held it to let it mature like any stock. You can do the same with the dollar in the NYSE. No bitcoin is not backed by a standard like gold or silver but if it was a scheme simple as that then the buyer could not sell without a loss since they had been taken advantage of. It wasnt a pump and dump. What you explained is a small fraction of coins cuz its unregulated by the SEC

@LordShadowfire whos making the money at the top of your pyramid if the creator isnt there? If gold was made by Mr.____ woldnt he be making all the money at the very top? I keep explaining its not a security. And finally theres whales on the NYSE too but you dont call it or hedge funds a scheme. They have bitcoin IPOs on the NAS right now.
