I’m worried about Trumps announcement today about autism

Because I know it’s going to be “folinic acid cures autism and Tylenol causes it”

And people at large are going to understand it even less than RFK and Trump do

Mount Sinai reported a study that prenatal acetaminophen may be linked to increased risk of autism and ADHD
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@Jenny1234 Show us the study then you can start spreading scare stories. Also perhaps give us the scientific credentials of the people to whom you refer
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Jenny1234 neurodivergency is not a disease.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@basilfawlty89 where did you read that? I said it was
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@FreddieUK here you go. Perhaps you should be the one to stop spreading false information

@Jenny1234 people who link any random drug or molecule to ADHD or ASD are implying people with those brain patterns i.e neurodivergent people have something "wrong" with them that need to be"prevented". Many people with Autism and ADHD are highly intelligence and excel in their fields.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@basilfawlty89 I have adhd
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@basilfawlty89 I have adhd. As a mother of 5, I would think all mothers would want to prevent their children from getting it
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Jenny1234 so do I.
I'm just saying we don't have a disease.
It's not a sickness. Our brains are just wired differently.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@basilfawlty89
So why the F do you jump all over me like that’s so aggressively?
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@basilfawlty89 you guys all need to do your research before you start spreading misinformation
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@basilfawlty89 the world has had enough of misinformation
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@Jenny1234 Agree,so how come there was a whole movement, not just in the states, based on spreading it and believing it? Scientifically, one study does not prove anything. It needs to be replicated by other scientists in varying circumstances and then results can be proven. Otherwise, I could quite clearly show that 90% of the people who died in my town last year, had at some point eaten cornflakes and that’s a fact. It’s meaningless of course, because it’s not actually science.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Jenny1234 how was I being aggressive? It doesn't fit the definition of a disease.
Republicans are treating neurodivergency as a disease. I was not attacking you.

There have been neurodivergent people throughout history, well before acetaminophen.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@basilfawlty89 Because you’re pretty much aggressive towards me on every post

Don't tell trump that or he will use it against people or put a tariff on corn flakes. 😄

@basilfawlty89
Republicans are treating neurodivergency as a disease.
Republicans want EVERYone to think they are a dis3ase, illegal, just shouldn't be, or "don't even exist".

There is no group that he will not eventually attack. Some people think he is a bigot or discriminates. He does not, he h4tes everyone equally. The only difference is WHEN will he attack what group?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Jenny1234 the article is really not original new research, it uses a technique that looks at published studies that are then analyzed to look for any correlation. Such studies are important, but can never really be called definitive.

No one should ever take any medication, pregnant or not, without looking at the risk:benefit. There are many other attempts at looking at any causal factors in autism, the only consistent finding is that genetics plays some role.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@samueltyler2 I know that but people are saying that their favourite guy is making this up when he this time is not
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Jenny1234 he is misinterpreting the article and recommending things that are unproductive. He has made this issue a political one, as he tends to do, and is further destroying faith in scientific evaluation.
@HoeBag 👏🙌
@Jenny1234 not really. But it looked for correlation.
