I was a bit of a late bloomer. Sure, I had a girlfriend in high school, but that ended before we could get anywhere. Didn't have anyone else until I was 35. She was 26, living with her mom and stepdad. That probably should have told me something, in retrospect.
Her mother was overprotective, probably because she had been sexually abused at a young age. So of course, nobody was going to be good enough for her, safe enough. Not in Mommy's eyes. Mommy was going to save her from being abused again.
Sure enough, when her mother found out we were seeing each other, sleeping together, she forbade her to see me. Took away her phone, if you can believe that. This girl is 26, and letting her mom take away her phone privileges.
Eventually, she gave in to her mother's wishes, and broke up with me via email.
A goddamn email.
She didn't even have the courage to say it over the phone, or goddess forbid, in person.
She'll never know, but I dedicated this song to her. [media=https://youtu.be/W9y8aUi3qFY]
