I never knew that

when I used to see someone in a movie about to have a baby sooner than expected and people would say 'get some some clean sheets and boil some water' I always assumed the water was for cleaning and sterilizing but my girlfriend laughed and said no, that was so everyone could have a cup of tea after. I never knew that. My wood stove almost always has hot water on it so we can do both, anyway round here
