Opinion: Manned space flights are wasteful, stupid and designed to promote colonization.

Actually its expansion of humanity. An inovation of technology and science and doesnt require war to fuel its resolve.

When we get to the point we can mine asteroids for reasources we would have abundance beyond anything weve ever experienced.

Commercializing space travel would increase tourism dramaticly and we as individuals might view our world differently from seeing it from the outside. The idea of national identity might fade by wanting to preserve our planet, realizing its our only home.
@GuyWithOpinions no qualms? Just spread out wherever, take whatever - you're unaware of anything alive or important, so wherever? Like Chris Columbus with no guilt?

@Roundandroundwego how would the future of humanity look in your eyes. What would you expect of us?
@GuyWithOpinions to evolve and become the ancestors of future people. We're four point eight billion years in, we have about that long to evolve before the sun becomes a threat...We do not have a clue who we'll be in between. Space isn't a destination for us. Maybe out far future descendants would know how to cross the galaxy in a good way.

@Roundandroundwego well we wont find out until we go there right. What matters is how we handle the situation when we do.
@GuyWithOpinions you're not going. If you're really good and be fruitful, and multiply, maybe your distant descendants will know how to cross the galaxy. You never will.

@Roundandroundwego im say "we" as a species. Technology can take generations to develop and it doesnt stop unless we decide to stop.
@GuyWithOpinions you're not getting there as a species. That's impossible. You're willing to do harm trying to do the impossible.

@Roundandroundwego humans are curious and can be stuborn. We will try. Regardless if we get there or not, the journey itself has meaning and knowledge and new technology will be created and past down to the next generations to help thier thier journey of curiosity. This is how we evolve.
