Actually its expansion of humanity. An inovation of technology and science and doesnt require war to fuel its resolve.

When we get to the point we can mine asteroids for reasources we would have abundance beyond anything weve ever experienced.

Commercializing space travel would increase tourism dramaticly and we as individuals might view our world differently from seeing it from the outside. The idea of national identity might fade by wanting to preserve our planet, realizing its our only home.

@Roundandroundwego im say "we" as a species. Technology can take generations to develop and it doesnt stop unless we decide to stop.
@GuyWithOpinions you're not getting there as a species. That's impossible. You're willing to do harm trying to do the impossible.

@Roundandroundwego humans are curious and can be stuborn. We will try. Regardless if we get there or not, the journey itself has meaning and knowledge and new technology will be created and past down to the next generations to help thier thier journey of curiosity. This is how we evolve.

I think they need to keep sending people up so they can find all the weird shit that happens and find solutions. It's like a skill you have to develop over time.
It would be pretty stupid if an earth destroying meteor hit and we had no place to run or even know how to. Humanity is very fragile at this point. We can barely keep things civil here as it is and with idiots like Trump in charge the world is in even more peril.
@PoohSmasher you have no place to go, there's no destination. Colonizing was so good, we're taking it into space?
@Roundandroundwego It is possible to build a city in space. Doesn't take much of a brain to figure it out, but it does take a lot of material, time and hard work.
Do you think it best that all of humanity should die rather than live in cities in space?
I would love to live in a city in space, it would be amazing to see.

I think there's a valid argument to your view, especially when so much needs to be done for our species and our planet that is sadly neglected. On the other hand I think it inevitable and the urge to explore, however destructive is built into our DNA.
@constance no, your DNA didn't make you westerners.

@Roundandroundwego So? Westerners are not the only colonizers! Most cultures have a history of being colonizers.
@constance no, stop pointing at others. They don't. You're projecting and confabulating.
