Do you open the oven a bit when you broil?

I know I can google this… I want real opinions.

As a serious home gourmet I highly recommend doing so, a loaf of cheesy garlic bread can go from untoasted to cremated withing a few short seconds if the oven door is closed in broil mode.

@NativePortlander1970 I broil for less than a minute but leave it closed. I had never heard of leaving it open until today.
@JovialMoose It needs to be open to at least the first notch.

@NativePortlander1970 not for all ovens. I guess Viking and GE ask for it to be closed. (I did some research)
@JovialMoose Viking is mainly gas, so their broiler is the bottom drawer below the main oven compartment, as for GE, I have no idea why they would claim that.
