Yeah it's the same at both ends like people who base their personality on being an alcoholic...partaking or abstaining from substances doesn't make you an interesting person. Neither is your gender, sexual orientation or political affiliation. These might be the most boring things about someone and if you build your personality around them you come off as hollow.

The fact you do drink, smoke, do drugs or do anything sinful doesn't make you interesting if you have zero else to offer.
I think it works both ways. What makes someone interesting tends to be in the connections you can form with them. Doing or not doing these things just seems like a weak, boring thing to bond over.
