I Am Saddened By Ignorance

I just don't get people who are oblivious to the struggles of the working poor in America. It baffles me, really. Although I'm not in poverty, I am considered to be in the "lower middle class"/"working class" in my area. There's nothing worse than seeing people calling all poor people "lazy", when your parents work full-time, with one of them considering getting a second job, and still struggle to support a family of four.

Yeah plus poorer areas are more prone to crime and thus keep people in a loop
My area's not too bad, because we live in a richer city, but once this girl asked me where I lived, and when I told her she said (to my face) that her mom tells her not to go to that area. (I think it's partially because there's a lot more racial diversity in my area, and that girl seemed like she had a low-key racist family.) I was like...bitch. We're 👏 human 👏 too 👏.

@Killers: Yeah but I can understand that tho from a parents view
@Firespirit: Our area isn't bad though...she just thinks it is because there's more black people living here, but my neighbors are perfectly fine. They're just low-key racist.

@Killers: well black people as a group are known for alot of crime by staticts but Yeah coud be a bit of racism their Its ore a poor issue tho
@Firespirit: But that doesn't mean all black people are violent. The black people in my area are definitely not. I mean, mostly white people commit mass shootings in the United States, but that doesn't mean all white people are mass shooters.

@Killers: well mass shooting are very multi cultural with people of all races. Yeah all that goes without saying Tho its a more money issue than race
@Firespirit: In the United States, mass shootings are usually committed by white people.
According to data compiled by Mother Jones magazine, which looked at mass shootings in the United States since 1982, white people -- almost exclusively white men -- committed some 64% of the shootings. (Source: http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/27/us/mass-shootings/)
I agree with the second part.

@Killers: Yeah that is more a gun issue as hand guns are so easily assessable
@Firespirit: Alright, but for a second there it seemed like you were justifying that girl's parents' racially-motivated remarks.
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@Killers: O was not aware you knew their brains
@Firespirit: There was no other reason for them to make that kind of remark. Some things are blatantly obvious. You on the other hand seem to think that putting people of a certain race in a box is okay.
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@Killers: I'm just trying to say maybe they just see that as the poor part and are snobs it could not be race related
@Firespirit: The girl said that her mom told her to avoid my neighborhood because it's "dangerous" (not true at all), and also this girl has a history of being a tad discriminatory.
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@Killers: ah ok didn't know that
