Amazon drives me up the wall

I used to love how small businesses could sell their products - it was a great way to support the local market that couldn't afford the premises costs of a shop. But now it is flooded with cheaply made products from Eastern Asia.
If i am looking for a phone case, sleep mask, bag whatever it is i cannot filter on a product from a local seller.

Maybe because your country doesn't make those things?
BabyLonia · F
@GeistInTheMachine that's not the point... the local independent seller doesn't get a look in anymore. Small stores were pushed off the high street by large retailers, and they were then able to sell via amazon.

Also the product being sold are of inferior quality. Not everyone wants the cheapest.

And i don't want to buy a sleepmask that has to travel 5000 miles to be delivered....it's nit great for the environment

Stuff you can buy from a local seller is still made in either India or China, but none of what you'd ever want is actually made in Europe or North America.

Amazon is only a delivery company who distribute merchandise that's made in China or India. Amazon itself doesn't make anything or recommend where you can but certain items.

@swirlie but tgen there is no benefit for the local seller or local economy for a start.
Also uk sellers have to sell according to British Standards which reduces sub-standard goods in the market. I wouldn't mind if there was an option to select where your goods are being shipped from

@BabyLonia
Britain doesn't make anything either! Everything you buy in a store in UK comes from either China or India.

And why do you think there is no benefit for the local seller or local economy for a start?
