Have you thought about your own death?

In the society I'm familiar with, death was more or less ignored until it happens to someone known or loved, and always silently feared. I don't think it's healthy to be afraid of dying, or to be unprepared for the day it comes. So I encourage spending some time to think about it, and how you want your family to handle the funeral (keep in mind they are the ones to attend, the funeral is really for those left behind to console them in their loss). I prefer to think of death as the part of life in which we remember how much we really loved someone. In this way death is beautiful.

It's impossible to be at death's door, be cognizant of it and not think about it. Even after you survive.
