Have you thought about your own death?

In the society I'm familiar with, death was more or less ignored until it happens to someone known or loved, and always silently feared. I don't think it's healthy to be afraid of dying, or to be unprepared for the day it comes. So I encourage spending some time to think about it, and how you want your family to handle the funeral (keep in mind they are the ones to attend, the funeral is really for those left behind to console them in their loss). I prefer to think of death as the part of life in which we remember how much we really loved someone. In this way death is beautiful.

I don't think anyone is ever ready, what really matters is coming to terms with what will eventually happen, and living your life the way you want to. I hope you and your wife have a strong support group in your everyday life, but I am always willing to listen if you would like to speak your mind. I don't know the specific moment when I became interested in death, but I think my father's death influenced me a bit. I will always remember the fear in his eyes when he realized he was dying from his own cancer. I don't want anyone else to feel that kind of fear, and as hard as it is to do, having an open discussion about one's own demise and even what comes after death might make it alittle easier to accept. I don't know, I have no real authority on the subject, but those are my own thoughts.
