What are your thoughts about Halloween celebrations? Do you believe Halloween is Satanic?
For me, it's nothing but a pop culture thing, and it's enjoyable. Yesterday, I watched this video, and this YouTuber expressed his views on Halloween celebrations in Saudi Arabia. He doesn't appreciate the Arab inclination towards the West, and the celebration of a Satanic festival in the holy land saddens him, and it should be forbidden. He believes if Muslims celebrate a Satanic festival, then they are inviting God's wrath on them. Though he leaves the choice to Muslims. Now, there's nothing wrong with expressing your point of view, and like everyone else, this YouTuber utilised his right to freedom of speech. I am not against that. What I am against is his emphasis on wanting the celebration to be forbidden in Saudi Arabia. His point that there are lots of Christians who do not celebrate Halloween because it's Satanic is valid because there are some Christians of different faiths who do not celebrate Halloween because of their beliefs. It's fine! It's completely one's choice. I wouldn't want anyone to compromise their beliefs to make others happy. The problem begins when you want others to exercise, practise, or live with beliefs the same as yours. Just look around where we got by doing so. Religion and different political opinions cause nothing but mayhem and mass conflict.
Religion may not be a bad thing, but the people of religion always cause problems. The same is applicable for people with political opinions. No one knows about political opinions better than me because I have been a victim. Well, that's a different story, and you may scroll through my profile to read about my past.
Fine! Halloween may be Satanic, but that's partial knowledge, not complete knowledge. The roots of Halloween can be traced back to Pagans. It does have connections with ancient pagan traditions, beliefs about spirits, death, witchcraft and the supernatural.
The origins of Halloween are generally traced to an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain.
It was celebrated on October 31. The celebration marked:
- The end of the harvest season.
- The beginning of winter.
- The transition into the darker months of the year.
The ancient Celts, particularly in Ireland and Scotland, had various beliefs about the supernatural.
The word 'Halloween' actually comes from All Hallows' Eve, meaning the evening before All Saints' Day. Over centuries, Christian traditions and regional European customs influenced one another.
How Halloween became Satanic?
In 1966, Anton LaVey founded the Church of Satan in the United States. LaVey associated Halloween with the darker aspects of human imagination, including supernatural themes, costumes and the exploration of forbidden fantasies. The rest is history.
So, I find Halloween celebrations nothing more than a pop culture aspect and an excuse to celebrate and enjoy with family and friends. I think it should be celebrated across the globe. Singapore is the best country for celebrations. Right from school they teach you to respect and understand the festivals of different communities. Therefore, you don't grow up with radical and orthodox beliefs. Well, choices and opinions vary from person to person. Now, let's hear your thoughts about it. Please respect each other's opinion. Thank you! 😇
