YOU CAN COME TO HIM CLEAN: The Cross of Jesus Christ Cancels Record of Our Sins
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
Have you ever carried something so heavy in your heart that you wished you could just lay it all down and breathe again? God wants you to know that you can.
I have found, that you don't have to hide your shortcomings from the Lord. You don't have to keep looking back at yesterday, wondering what if, or punishing yourself over something you've already brought to Him. He knows your heart. He knows where you've fallen, where you've hurt, and where you've struggled. And He still loves you.
When you come to Him with a repentant heart, you aren't coming to someone who wants to crush you with condemnation. You're coming to the One who loves you enough to forgive you, cleanse you, and help you begin again.
I know it's safe to bring Him everything. Your sins. Your regrets. Your deep pain. Your burdens. Those things you've been afraid to say out loud. You don't have to dress them up or pretend you're stronger than you are. You can just be honest with Him, surrender it all, and really breathe again in Jesus. He wants you to know that He still holds you close and loves you so very much.
When you've confessed your sin(s) and received His forgiveness, let yourself rest in His promise. You don't have to keep carrying what you've laid at His feet. He has made you clean, beloved. Restored your fellowship with Him.
No more hiding. No more what-ifs. No more trying to pay for yesterday, when Jesus has already paid for your sins. You professed it. You repented of it. You rededicated. You closed the doors. And now it's just you and the Lord. Loved. Forgiven. Cleansed. Free.
You can take a deep breath now. You can lift your head. You can walk forward without letting yesterday define you.
Your past may be part of your story, but it doesn't have to be the weight you carry into tomorrow. As you repented, the Lord forgave you and has already forgotten it, so why should you bring it back up?
What's done is done, it has been repented of and now it is in your past and you're not going that way. Instead, look to tomorrow and trust God with your future. He's not looking at what you've done. He's looking at your promising future and a beautiful life with him. New beginnings...and promises kept by God, to YOU. ♥
The Lord isn't asking you to come to Him pretending to be clean. He's inviting you to come just as you are, surrender your heart to Him, and let Him do what only He can do...cleanse you. Now I don't know about you, but that is a great relief, when I repent to him and he cleanses me. Best feeling in the world. You are free because Jesus set you free. He wants you to forgive yourself, so that you can also set yourself completely free.
Just as Jesus said 'it is finished', on the cross, that's exactly what He meant. He doesn't mean for you to pick up your cross again. It's not meant for you to carry it, once He's forgiven and done with it. It is done, it is over with, and you are truly free when Christ set you free. So please let God's peace and freedom spill freely over you, cleanse you from head to toe, and accept it... then move on. That's what Jesus wants for you and that's what He did for you on the cross when He set you free. He doesn't want you to keep bringing them before his face! He's already forgiven and forgotten them. And for you to not forgive yourself, is like telling Jesus he's a liar. For you to tell him, "I don't believe you. I don't trust that You forgave my sins and remember them no more."? That's not trust or acceptance. Don't put a question mark, where God put a period!!!
If you've laid it all at Jesus' feet, as well, I’m rejoicing with you. The enemy wanted to steal your joy and your peace, but Jesus gave it right back to you. You are truly free. He's not keeping count of your sins. He has already forgiven them. You did the hard thing today. You brought it all to Him. And now you get to walk around light, clean, and free. God says, “I love my child, and yes, he sins, but I forgave that sin on the cross.” If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
When I laid my sins at Jesus' feet and surrendered them all, I didn't turn right back around and say "I want those back! I want to carry those"!! That's really false, selfish, and dishonest surrender. God can see right through that "confession". That's more like you're feeling guilty and just want to get it off your chest, than trusting God to forgive you, and then walk in a new light with him. That's a game. Plase recognize that lingering shame often comes from the enemy or a wounded conscience rather than God, who calls believers to accept His mercy and move forward. Answer persistent doubts and guilt using scripture verses, rather than re-litigating your past.
Heaven's Verdict is Final: The Bible refers to Satan as the "accuser of the brethren," yet God's pardon in Christ, completely erases past guilt.
Beloved, when you repent, God is Not only faithful to forgive you and forget it, there is a complete separation of sin! Scripture emphasizes that God removes and forgets confessed sins....casting them as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12; Micah 7:19).
NO CONDEMNATION: Romans 8:1 and related teachings, confirm that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ who have repented, and been set free by Him.
So if you are reading this with tears in your eyes, I want you to hear my heart. You do not have to pretend that everything is "okay". You do not have to hide your disappointment from God or force yourself to smile, when you are hurting. You are allowed to grieve and find real Freedom in Christ, at the same time. You are allowed to ask questions. You are allowed to take the time you need to heal. And please, do NOT let ANYONE convince you that your suffering means God is disappointed in you or is mad at you.
That's the oldest trick in the devil's book! And if you believe it, it will torment you for as long as you let it! Don't allow it!! Satan is a liar! He wants you to believe that the Resurrection blood of Jesus is so weak and powerless, that it cannot cleanse you nor set you free...but I'm here to share that it can and does. That's exactly what it did for me, and the Holy Spirit transformed my life completely. Satan and his demons are pure liars!
Micah 7:19 in the Bible says that God will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea:
"He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea."
The cross revealed His love for you, and the resurrection revealed His victory over everything that makes this world so painful. I do not know when your circumstances will change, and I will not promise you that tomorrow will be easier. But I want you to rest in something that remains true, even on your hardest days. Jesus has not abandoned you in your suffering. You are deeply loved, you are not forgotten, and your pain has never made you any less precious to your heavenly Father.
When God forgives you, you can REST in that today. You’re COVERED. You’re forgiven. You’re His. When He forgives, He forgives! When He forgets, He forgets! When He cleanses, He makes you TOTALLY clean. No half-measures. No leftovers. Just peace sitting in your chest. You can relax and rest now. When God has granted forgiveness through Jesus Christ, the enemy (Satan) no longer holds a legal right or valid claim to condemn a believer.
Oh, how Jesus loves you. If you haven't yet, I pray you will come to Him today. Lay it all down and let your heart find comfort in the beautiful freedom of being forgiven.
Rest in it today. Walk in it. The enemy can’t accuse you, when God has already forgiven you. ❤
The Final Verdict: If you've invited Jesus into your heart and life as your Savior, His sacrificial death and blood have not only paid for, but canceled your record of sins through His forgiveness, and declared your past sins washed away! When God forgives, the case is closed!
