YOUR WORST DAY DIDN’T CANCEL GOD’S WONDERFUL PLAN FOR YOU
HOPE WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'VE FAILED IN LIFE
Scriptures for Today:
Micah 7:8 — "Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me."
2 Corinthians 12:9 — "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
The Thought:
Let’s talk real for a minute. Have you ever laid in bed and replayed your mistakes over and over? Have you ever thought, "I’ve disappointed God too many times. He’s probably tired of me and done with me."
I have.
In 53 years of walking with Jesus, I’ve had days where I felt like I really let Him down. Days where I said the wrong thing. Made the wrong choice. Prayed and still messed up.
And in those moments, the enemy whispers: "You’re a failure. God can’t use you now."
But that is a lie.
Failure is not your name.
Failure is something that happened to you. It is not who you are.
God never called you because you were perfect.
He called you because He loves you.
And His love doesn’t run out, every time you stumble!
Think about it. When a little child falls down learning to walk, does dad say "That’s it, you’re done. You’ll never walk"?
No. Dad gets down, wipes the tears, holds out his hands and says "Come on baby, try again. I’m right here."
That’s our Father. That's His heart, as well.
He sees you sitting in the mess of your mistake and He doesn’t step over you....He steps into it with you. He picks you up, dusts you off, and says "Let’s keep going. I’m not finished with you....hope, and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Your worst day did not cancel God’s best plan for you.
Your shame does not erase your calling.
The crack in your life is where His light gets in to help.
So come on... get up with me.
Not because you feel strong. But because the God who holds you is strong. Not because you’ve earned another chance. But because His grace is new, every - single - morning!
Tomorrow is the new day, a new beginning. I say snatch it up and be thankful we have another chance. God is not near finished with you yet. He has plans to help you, not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. You really cannot beat that. What I do is repent, my sins are behind me then, and I start fresh and new. That's what He can do.
He doesn't hold a grudge or our sins against us. He loves to make New Beginnings for us. And he does that by erasing our past sins as we come to him in prayer. And I tell you what I always think. If God can forgive me then surely I can forgive myself. I don't look in the rearview mirror. I'm not going that way. I refuse to. Tomorrow is a brand new day and a brand new start in the Lord.
Prayer:
Father,
Today I’m laying down the weight of feeling like a failure. Thank You that You don’t love me less when I mess up. Thank you for your forgiveness and love regardless of my weakness and shortcomings. Thank you for giving me another chance I otherwise would not have had.
Thank You that Your power works best in my weak places.
Pick me up, Lord. Wash me. Show me the next step, even if it’s just one. I’m not quitting, because You haven’t quit on me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today:
What is one lie you’ve believed about yourself since you messed up?
Replace it with God's truths. Say out loud: "I am forgiven. I am loved. God is not done with me."
Love, Grace
