Mustard Seed Faith: When Faith Feels Hard
Scriptures for Today
Mark 9:24 — "I believe; help my unbelief!"
Hebrews 11:1 — "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
The Thought:
Faith doesn’t always feel strong.
Sometimes faith feels like a whispered prayer at 2am.
Sometimes it feels like "God, I don’t know how You’re going to do this, but I know You can."
And sometimes faith feels like waiting.
We live in a world that wants instant results. Push a button, get an answer. But God isn’t a formula. God is a Father.
And a Father doesn’t always say "yes"....not even right away.
Sometimes He says "not yet" because He’s protecting you.
Sometimes He says "I have something better" because He sees around the corner.
Sometimes He says "I’m with you in this" because the miracle is that He never leaves our side. He sees every tear that falls from your eyes at 1:00 in the morning as you pray and hurt. It's for those tears he died so that you might have a better life in Him by His saving grace and a place he has prepared for you in heaven, if that is what you wish.
Faith is not the absence of doubt. It’s choosing to trust Jesus, even when you don’t understand the plan. It’s bringing Him your questions, your fears, your "help my unbelief" — and finding out He’s not scared of any of it. None of it is so heavy or hard that he cannot take care of it. He answers every prayer, but in His own timing, in His own wisdom, and always has our best interest at heart in His answers. Let me tell you I learned a very long time ago that every time I try to get ahead of God or help him, that just never works and it never will. God's timing is absolutely always the best.
The same God who spoke the universe into existence, is listening to you today. He collects your tears. He knows your name. He goes before you in every room, every hospital, every hard thing. I can sure vouch for that! I sure wouldn't have followed him all these 53 years, if I thought he was a liar and wasn't there when I need him. He's always been there for me. And I'm not talking about voice telling me yes I'll give you what you prayed for. We are not spoiled children. Even our parents had to tell us no at times in order to protect us. I trust God completely and I know he always gives me what is in my best interest, though I may not realize it at the time.
You don’t have to have perfect faith. You just need mustard-seed faith. Small, but pointed toward Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
When my faith feels weak, remind me that You are strong.
When I don’t see the answer, help me trust the One who does.
Thank You that You are not a vending machine, You are my Father.
Teach me to rest in "I’m with you" even when "yes" hasn’t come yet.
Grow my faith, one day at a time. In Your blessed name, Amen.
Today:
What’s one thing you’re tempted to demand from God today?
Lay it down and tell Him: "I trust You with this. I believe; help my unbelief."
