Where I am from (Italy) there is no exclusivity until there is an agreement and you have put a diamond ring 💍 on my finger. This means there is an understanding that might lead to an obligation, but only through the Church, and a course of discussion about the meaning of marriage. This kind of relationship commitment will gain all that you might desire but not unilaterally. We both have to LIVE it!

Yes, there are many other ways that people “couple-up”, but I am a strict Catholic.
