Why would you ever keep your bff in the dark ?

"Why won't you talk to me anymore ?" Asked Ana as they walked away from her party, towards the parking lot, "I'm your best friend for crying out loud! Stop hiding already. I know what you're going through!" She exclaimed, looking at him. You have no idea, m'dear, he thought to himself, feeling the melancholy set in. It was all he had known for a while now. The night was young and the moon shining ever so bright, illuminated their way. He looks at the woman walking beside him, her face shining as bright as the moon above, and wonders why she even puts up with him. It's funny how we care so much about certain people in our lives, people who don't really give a shit about us. And we take for granted  the ones who truly love and care about us, he thought to himself. He could feel her worried eyes on him. "I'm alright, really," he replied, "I just need some time alone to figure things out."
If there was one thing she knew about him, it was that once he's made up his mind about something, there's no going back on it. "Sigh, why do I even try" She muttered  under her breath, as he went off to get his motorcycle. "You've always been there for me when I needed someone. You've always protected me. Is it too much to ask for allowing me to do the same?" she asked, now facing him as he sat down on his ride. "It's not. Listen, I don't want you to feel like you have an obligation to do this. Like I said, I'm fine. You know me. I'll bounce right back soon enough" He replied smiling. I really don't want to drag you into the shitstorm in my head. It's better if I handle it on my own, he thought to himself, looking away from her. He turned on the key and watched the instrument cluster come to life with the familiar whirring sound.
"I do know you," she said, now looking directly into his eyes. "You're going to disappear again aren't you." He smiled, shrugging his shoulders. She moved in closer and hugged him. "You better keep in touch idiot. I don't want to lose you" she said softly, knowing that she won't be seeing him again for a while. "I will," he said, watching people waving at them from the party. "You had better get back. They've noticed you're missing," he said smiling. She let go and planted a light peck on his cheek. "I need my best friend back soon," she yelled waving, as she hurried back to the party. He waved back."I'll be there for you whenever you need me. I just don't want you to waste your time trying to fix me" he said softly, knowing she can't hear him.

As she disappers into the crowd, he puts on his stark black leather jacket and straps on his helmet. A light push on the ignition and the engine roars to life, cutting across the silence of the night. There's a loud thud as he puts it into gear. Slowly letting his fingers off the clutch, he makes his way onto the open road. He rips open the throttle and the steady increase in the roar, as he twists the throttle all the way round, is gratifying. And he races off into the night, wishing to fade away into the darkness.

P.S. I am in no way a writer. Putting down my thoughts this way helps me control them. :)

I liked this. It seems to be the way in relationships. Women express themselves to the men they love. And the men help them, but they also retain a wall of sorts. Is it the stereotypical way that men seem to feel? The way they must remain strong and in-charge and not appear vulnerable? I express all of my fears to my mate. I know things bother him yet he is reluctant to share. He says your plate is full so why would I add my worries to it? I say because it is a two-way street not a one-way one. It bothers me still...
You seem to write well in my opinion. So continue. I do like your words, Flash man.
Thank you! :) But, I don't write all that much. Actually I do, but they are random thoughts, just for me.
And I'm glad you liked it. This piece isn't about lovers. I'd gladly share everything with the one I love and I'd want her to do the same. This is more about you protecting a friend from yourself, in a way.
@TheFlash: Thank you for that insight. Perhaps you should read one of my postings today. It is on letting love in. It may give you pause to think...If you would so honour me, Flash.
@PoetryNEmotion: Anytime:) and gladly! I just saw it.
