The Parts of Me I Outgrew

What part of yourself did you have to lose in order to become the person you are today, and do you ever miss who you were before?

For me, it wasn’t just anger at the world, anger at everything, and anger at myself. It was also ego. I had to learn to trust others. I had to learn to see that not everyone was out to get me and that people could love me.

At one point in time, I seriously didn’t recognize the difference between an insult and a compliment. I know that seems strange, but my brain really was that distorted, and I did a lot of growing.

I learned that I wasn’t always right. In fact, I was wrong about a lot, and I still have a lot more to learn. I don’t need to fight every differing opinion. I don’t need to resist so much. I learn far more by trying to understand how someone arrived at their own thoughts than I do by trying to force them to see that I am right.

In turn, I get to be humbled silently without embarrassment.

Anyway, that is mine. Please share yours.

ah that's good on you to be more aware and understanding and less angry and offended

i lost all my fitness and became fat but lately i'm becoming more of a baker and a writer skills i keep engaging in .. i'd like to go into art and fashion someday or politics or gardening.. write a book or something .. there's one thing i wanted in life that i cant have and had to let go of to remain where i was which i half didn't want to be in the first place so it was a conflict for me and maybe in some ways i'm still on the fence about idk
@GoFish a love that didn't work out?

My best guess is I didn't have much to do with it I just matured over time and some old habits just fell away.
