Just Saw an Equation

For socially acceptable age gaps between adult lovers.
Oddly enough the equation only seems to apply to older men that date a younger woman, and not the other way around.
They did make sure to mention that anyone who is 19 or under is never allowed to be thought of as an adult.

The equation is:

The age of the older man, divided by 2, plus 7 years.

I'm 56. Which makes my socially acceptable number 35 or older.
But what is socially acceptable under the precepts of this equation is not socially acceptable to myself in my personal opinion.
It would take quite a mature 35 year old to entice me into a relationship.

I don't think I could bring myself to even consider anyone under 40, and even that sems too young for me.
Though I think I could accept it more readily.

My personal number is more like 48 or older.

Any thoughts out there about any of this ?

I thought this equation is for both men and women. I think it's a reasonable guideline.

I think for a relationship it really depends on the people involved. For me, conversation is important. A large age gap can make it difficult sometimes to find common ground, shared life experiences, frames of reference, etc., but I suppose it depends on the personality, mental ages, maturity (or immaturity) of each person.

For a friend with benefits, I don't think age matters as much as long as they're both consenting adults. ;)

Men and women’s peak years are at different times in life . There’s no steadfast rule between 2 adults .

Though this is more re diluted than what 2 adults agree on between each other.

It’s much re about social acceptance and societal norms on the whole.

Despite my own stated personal preferences of what I feel is acceptable for me, I don’t judge anyone else or begrudge them their choices when it comes to love, loving, or lovers.

I’m fully aware thatt the heart wants what the heart wants and that there are very few rules when it comes to love.

I did the math and got 43. I can accept that but I question why a 43 year old woman would want a 76 year old man.

My personal desired youngest woman for a relationship is my oldest daughter's age plus 5 which resolves to 61.

But in reality at my age it is only a theoretical concept.

@jim44444 And therein are some my thoughts contained.
Though do know guys my age that have dated much younger ladies.

For me though, I don't think I would want to try to keep up socially with a 35 year old.
They're still out there doing much more active things, and socializing in places and ways I no longer enjoy all that much.

It annoys me a little that the equation is usually about older men and younger women.
As if mature women are disposable. 🥺

I prefer men my own age and older but am occasionally approached by younger men because they can’t tell what age I am.

@bijouxbroussard I found it sort of annoying that this equation was claimed to not apply to women in the terms that it’s socially acceptable despite any age gap.
