"Elbow grease" I've never worked hard enough to get grease out of my elbows, maybe it would be easier to put grease on my elbows before I start hard work.

In the UK teenagers starting their first job would frequently be sent out to the nearest hardware store for "a pound of elbow grease". Another favourite was "a long weight/wait", or the one I got caught on "a bubble for a spirit level"
