I have over 150 students now..and one of them has a development disability

Usually kids like him stop at the 2nd grade in academic achievements but I am adamant he can at least reach the 6th grade.

At the very least.

I am already teaching him multiplications. And he understands. I just have to make things super fun which makes him spend more efforts without me asking.

I was very hesitant to take him. I think it was a talk with @BlueVeinsthat convinced me to change my mind. I don't remember. Him and some other kids that had sever behavioral issues. 🤔

Now I am pretty attached to them. I love them way too much.

Yesterday I asked him " we are done learning the names of toys in French, what do you think was your weakness while learning this unit?"

I was expecting him to say "I didn't revise my lessons "

He said "I smile too much".

It made me sad when he said that. I told him not to listen to people and to keep smiling. They are insecure because they can't feel as happy as he does. No one should take away his smile.

He spent the entire lesson smiling.

I have a very stressful job.
Makes me grumpy and can give me too much to think about.
So when I spend time with these kids I try to ignore much of it, and just make it about them.
This week particularly I had to switch off my ability to empathize but I failed severely while teaching kids. They effortlessly make me human.

They are beautiful.

That’s great are you in the US? Where would they stop educating a child at 2nd grade?
