What are your feelings on amassing a lot of useless possessions through life?

As a youngster, I collected books and related items on a certain subject, which have never even been unpacked since I moved into my current home touching five years ago. Have you ever disowned very personal items ,and did you do it easily ?

"This can be useful one day" 😅 I'm not a hoarder but I don't throw stuff that I know that could be still used easily. Also some sentimental stuff as a part of my history even if it was sooo long ago and me as that person is long gone.
