Everyone I rely on emotionally has some sort of bad health issue.

My parents and a few others older and wiser than me.

I don't know what I would do without them.

@SinlessOnslaught You will do what the rest of us have done. You will treasure them while you have them, ask all the questions you want so that you two can have some of their wisdom. When the time comes, you will mourn and live through a bereavement which will probably be painful for a period. Then in their honour you will pick up the pieces, be thankful for what they taught you and work on passing down what they gave you to the next generation.

@SinlessOnslaught It will pass. Remember that every generation passes through the same experience of loss and sometimes the bewilderment about the future. I cannot believe that I am the 'patriarch' of my branch of the family. I'm just not up to it.
