My John Owen shrine

"Some references to the ubiquity of Owen’s work suggest that it was being put to uses other than those of spiritual edification. One correspondent complained that he could “scarce visit a Tavern, or Country Ale-house, but forth comes some of the Learned Works of John Owen”—though, he added, the pages were being used to wrap tobacco." (from "John Owen and English Puritanism: Experiences of Defeat (Oxford Studies in Historical Theology)" by "Crawford Gribben").

The Complete Works of John Owen -- volumes already released have a ✨ by them, and forthcoming volumes are noted. This series is i believe supposed to be completed by 2029, they need to pick up the pace i think as they started in 2018. I'd like the Hebrews commentary to begin soon!! I will from next purchase on be purchasing the volumes from Crossway and Reformation Heritage Books, as they are cheaper than Amazon.

Secondary volumes:
John Owen and English Puritanism -- Crawford Gribben, also his Introduction to John Owen.
Sinclair Ferguson's The Trinitarian Devotion of John Owen.
And Matthew Barrett & Michael A.G. Haykin's Owen on the Christian Life
There's also some stuff from J.I. Packer that helped bring Owen into demand in the 1950s onward. Speaking of Packer and Barrett cited above, both were and are Anglican, Barrett as i see a video discussing Barrett's switch from being a Baptist to Anglicanism, is interesting. My dear friend here i discovered is Anglican too.
Closing thoughts -- the style of Owen's writings is somewhat of a challenge, he's on another level, but when you're grasping some of that level, the way he explains things in such a detailed and extensive manner is wunderbar.
