@Alter4Ego It means "take care of problems right away, so that they do not develop into bigger problems." When a garment starts to become unraveled, sewing one stitch might fix it. But if you let it unravel further, you will have to sew more stiches (maybe nine, because it rhymes!) later.

I am not against it, but religion isn't something that can help everybody. I am sorry if you are offended because it helped you, but after years it had no effect on me (it might made things worse in a way). The truth probably is that everybody is different and different things help us in dealing with our struggles, if something works for you, it's not guaranteed to work for others too
