In times like these, we need a Savior. Let him comfort you.

Truth is, we all need comfort, and Bible verses about comfort can be among the most encouraging gifts God has given us in this life. Like the good Father that He is, He knows exactly what we need, and the verses we find in His Word have the power to touch us and minister to us like nothing else can.

We live in a world and culture, broken by sin. Bible verses about comfort, carry us through hard times, regardless of the source of our loss. These verses can change your perspective. Knowing what He says in His Word can make a huge difference. And if you’re not sure where to start, here are some of my favorites.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

It reminds me that God never wastes anything. He provides comfort for us, but He also uses those hard times to teach us how to comfort others. Once we walk through our storms, we can walk alongside and help others, because we’ve been there and found God faithful.

“Do not let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.” (John 14:1)

The disciples were torn up inside. They already had been dealing with a measure of fear as they entered Jerusalem for Passover. Now, Jesus was telling them that He was leaving. But He also challenged them to believe. Faith—belief—has the power to comfort us and sustain us. He provides comfort and peace to help us move forward.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

One time when I was so fearful my whole body shook, I hardly had the strength to stand, but God did strengthen me and helped me through. Though I was terrified, I still stepped forward in faith and did what I had to do, because I knew he was with me and he would see me through, and he did. God knows and understands that we will fear. Just don't let it get to the point where it overtakes you, but instead, trust Jesus.

For me, it's not what happens to me or what I lose in this world, because I've lost it all before; but what I do with what I have left, is what counts. Jesus has given His all for me and he's never let me down. And that doesn't mean life has been a bed of roses. That's not what it's about. Those thorns have to come, so that we can learn, grow, and be better people. Jesus has always given me his best....I figure, how could I give him less? He has seen me through the worst, and I know he'll be there in the future. No matter what comes.

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

When Jesus said His yoke was easy, He didn’t mean we would never face difficult times. Instead, He urged His followers to come to Him during those painful seasons of life. He gives us the endurance to survive and even thrive, when we are hurting, because He is our only true Source of rest and peace.

Instead of looking at all the negative things in this world around us, we can keep our eyes focused on Jesus, and these things which trouble us, will grow faintly dim, in the light of his glory and grace.

For everyone out there who has suffered horribly, take heart. God will give you back everything you lost or suffered. Evil will never be stronger than God. He knows and he sees all that has happened to you and he will do as he promised. He will take vengeance on those who go out in this world to do nothing but hate and destroy. A brand new glorious day is coming for you. God keeps His word. He never breaks a promise. God is fair; sin is not. Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord. Evildoers shall reap what they have sown. That is a promise from God.

“When he has swallowed up death once and for all, the Lord God will wipe away the tears from every face and remove his people’s disgrace from the whole earth, for the Lord has spoken.” (Isaiah 25:8)

God has promised that a day is coming when He will deal with death and suffering “once and for all.” I love that God will wipe away our tears, one last time. And I love that this Bible verse about comfort is repeated in John’s heavenly vision (Revelation 21:4). God’s comfort here and now, gives us a taste of the ultimate healing we will experience in His presence. No more darkness. No more pain. No more suffering. No more tears. No more death. Only peace, love, and joy, for eternity.

I hope everyone has prepared for His coming, because it is sure, it is promised, and it won't be long before He'll be back. We must prepare now, so our soul will already be "spiritually ready", when he comes. That is done by believing and trusting that God will do what he said he will do, in saving our souls and forgiving our sins. That is, asking Jesus to come into our hearts and lives as our Savior. Don't let that devil tell you that God doesn't want you or you are not good enough. That's a lie. Jesus turns no one away.

Your God fails to comfort or provide for the 1000s upon 1000s of people who starve to death every day.
@Entwistle God is not the problem. He cannot err. This is what happens in a fallen, sinful world, when governments interfere so that these people cannot get their food.

As you think about accountability, scripture tells us that all are responsible and accountable for their sins, before God, and shall ultimately stand face-to-face with God one day. That's one appointment all shall keep, and scripture confirms that He shall hold accountable, all who have mocked and/or cursed him.

@LadyGrace Your God could feed everyone if he wishes right?
To withhold food from men,women and children..some are even babies is a monstrous thing to do.
If your God existed then he would rightly be classed as a monster.
@Entwistle Nice try. 😂
@Entwistle Isn't it funny how it's always Westerners like you are the ones who keep bringing up this point? Before making this point checked this point and she agreed.

In Africa there are alot more people with faith in Christ than here in the West.

The point is, you need to ask them and not us.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic So you don't believe your God could feed starving people or you believe he could but chooses not to?
@Entwistle You're asking the wrong people's perspective, you need to ask the actual people suffering from those issues, their perspective will probably provide alot of clarity.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic There are no right or wrong people to ask..only theists.
Why doesn't your God feed starving people? Didn't Jesus say ask anything in my name and it shall be given?
@Entwistle
Didn't Jesus say ask anything in my name and it shall be given?

The most misused verse ever.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic Still the question needs answering.
Why does your God allow people to starve when he could supposedly easily feed them?
@Entwistle Not speakng on behalf of anyone, you've never asked the people who believe on Christ who are suffering what you describe and you almost certainly never will so I'll try.

When reading news publications about my suffering Christian family, the answers are always very familiar but there are many.

In a few words: "In light of eternity".

You view this from a presumably atheistic perspective so you'd be talking cross purposes to them.
@BritishFailedAesthetic It's ok brother. He does this all the time, since I've been on here and that's a long time. He knows what the deal is. I don't reply to people like him who just want to troll. I've explained everything to him many a time and he just still wants to find something to squawk about. He'll just go on and on. We don't entertain trolls.
@Entwistle keep trolling my post and I'll have no problem blocking you. You've done this for years. Grow up.
@BritishFailedAesthetic yeah they always use that as an excuse to blame God.

@Entwistle God does not keep his people hungry. Never. I have seen mercy of Lord. I have seen his love. His justice is the Best and supreme Justice.

You play satanic tunes and you will be hungry and you will starve even with billions of dollars in your pocket.Even with all your children you will feel childless. Even with four wives, you will feel like a widower for our heart seeks for God in the special vaccum that only God can fill. No food, no drink, no pleasure, not even birth of someone or death of someone. Physical Birth, physical death, physical starvation are temporary. You feel hungry today and you can go to an orchard, have fruit, you can kill a calf and get fed.

The food which you can never have without Grace is "the spiritual food" close to which nothing stands.

Take it or leave it, your wish completely.
@Entwistle Thing is....He does exist. Over 500 people saw him after he raised from the dead. There you have 500 witnesses. They all watched him die and 3 days later he rose from the grave and that's your proof, Entwistle. All these people were not lying. They witnessed it for themselves and Jesus stayed on Earth for 40 more days before they all watched him ascend into heaven and go to His Father in heaven. Before that, the apostles were not sure exactly who Jesus was but they had seen him do miracles and so they followed him and they believed that he was the Messiah. But you know they didn't have a Bible back then to tell them what we know today. They didn't have that advantage, and Jesus' resurrection was so dramatic, it forever left such an indelible mark on their lives, that they were willing to sacrifice their own lives to the cause of Christ, to spread the gospel. Every one of them died a horrible death and they knew they would, back in those days, as people hated Christians just like they do today, yet they were so convinced that Jesus was Lord after what they witnessed, they were willing to die for their faith.

That should tell you something. Men just don't change their lives overnight and die for a lie. But they we're more than willing to die for Jesus, because they knew without a doubt, He was the real Messiah that came to save the world. They didn't have to guess. If that's not enough for anyone to believe, then it's questionable they wish to have Christ as Savior at all.
@DanielsASJ it did not give me on your post the option of placing you as best answer but your answer is certainly the BEST ANSWER

I could not have said it better. So beautiful what you said and so true about our precious Lord. Thank you so much for that. I'm overwhelmed at the wisdom and beauty of your answer. God bless you, brother.
@Entwistle if you're so convinced there's no God, then why are you arguing against someone you don't believe in?
@Entwistle
If your God existed then he would rightly be classed as a monster
.
This is not what a monster looks like.

Signs of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit:

Continually rejecting God's offer of salvation.

Hardening your heart against the Holy Spirit.

Refusing to repent of sin.

Insulting the love of God.

Attributing the Holy Spirit's power to demonic power.

You have accused and rejected the sinless Savior of this world, determining that He should be classified as a monster.

Matthew 12:31 states, "Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, except the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.".

@LadyGrace It's a debate to me that's all. It's fun.
@Entwistle It was anything but fun or funny to Jesus, when He hung on the cross to pay for your sins and mine...to save our soul. It is to be taken seriously, so I would appreciate it if you have fun someplace else. This has to do with a person's soul. That's something that shouldn't be taken lightly.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@LadyGrace There is no eternal soul.
@Entwistle Good luck with that theory. I'm not going to argue that point with you because you have your mind set on it and I will respect that.
