At this time in the season of Thanksgiving, I just had to add my thoughts.

The phrase "give thanks to God, for he is good" appears in multiple Bible verses, including1 Chronicles 16:34 and Psalm 118:1

Some reasons to give thanks to God include:

God's love is like none other: I thank God for Jesus' pure unselfish love for us, which He proved on the cross. I am forever grateful that Jesus saved me; just as He will forgive and save all who come to Him with the desire to be saved. You only have to come to him and ask, and he promises to save you. Just come as you are, without preparation of any kind. You never have to earn his love. He already loves you.

He loved us, though we didn't deserve it and He came to save us from the condemnation that sin placed on all of us, even knowing that some would reject him and his sacrificial death for us. I thank God for his saving grace, redemption, and for his example and testimony of what happens to us at death, if we will but trust him. I'm thankful he did not leave us to guess about that.

His death and Resurrection tell us exactly what happens when we die. There is no other love like the love of Christ. He and His love are complete, and trustworthy. He did not come into this world to condemn the world, but to save it. John 3:16 and 17.

God's character is unchanging: God is always good, merciful, gracious, and loving, and his love endures through all storms.God's faithful love persists through all things.

God is the Giver of Life: God created us and formed us, and everything we have, comes from him.

Gratitude propels us forward: Gratitude can help us move forward in the life God has designed for us.

1 Chronicles 29:13: "And now we thank you, Our God, and praise your glorious name." Psalm 30:12: "That my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!" Jeremiah 30:19: "Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate.

Thank you Lord for all my friends and family that love me and pray for me. Thank you for all your love and all you have done for us. I give you thanks in all things, whether big or small. In the ways that you bless us each and every day. I pray we never take anything for granted, including your sacrifice or your love for us. We can give thanks to you in all circumstances, because you are worthy and so much wiser than we. You always know and do what is best for us. You help and sustain us, even when we sometimes forget and neglect you. You are always faithful to us. You alone are worthy of our praise, for you have given all, and done all for us, even to the point of sacrificing your own life for us, and for that I am forever grateful, as I know each and every one of my brothers and sisters in Christ, are too.

Reminding our hearts to give thanks, does many good things. It gives credit where credit is due. It keeps us from bitterness, arrogance and discouragement. It protects us from letting our lives be defined by what we don't have. It keeps us humble and reminds us of our need for God.

I'm so thankful for God's everlasting love, kindness, care, grace, abiding presence, and plan of salvation for all... no matter what background or denomination one belongs to. Thank you Lord, for without you, none of this could be possible. You and your truths shall abide forever, and shall never pass away. You deserve our praise, whether things are going good, or there are problems/challenges. Your love and eternal presence are always there for us. For that, I give thanks Lord, and for not leaving us to guess how to have salvation or Heaven as our home. May we be reminded of all these things mentioned above, each and every morning and night. May we be forever mindful of you, as you have been of us. And thank you God for helping me in my deepest darkest moments, as well, in the 51 years I have known you. You have always seen me through and I will never forget that. Amen.
