If you get all the money you’ve ever desired or dreamed of

would you still go to work every day?

People who do have all the money they ever dreamed of do go to work every day.

Consider Warren Buffet. He lives well below his means has more money than god but still goes to work.

People who think if I had all the money I dreamed of I wouldn't go to work never get the money they dreamed of - obvious exception for big time lottery winners.

In general wealthy people become wealthy because they enjoy their work so they don't give it up even when they can afford to. Poor people stay poor because they hate their job but go to work to pay the bills

@JezUK Yes but you could also win the lottery for example.

@Blanchy You could - as mentioned in my post.

But a lot of lottery winners end up broke. Also hoping to win the lottery isn't a realistic life goal.

@JezUK I don't know how someone can end up broke if they only live off the interest, but I guess some people spent their actual wealth... I believe OP asked a hypothetical scenario, so there could be any reason for the person's sudden wealth. The way it's asked, it sounds like a "winning-the-lottery-scenario" anyways.

@Blanchy
if they only live off the interest
Problem is, if they have their money in the bank, the interest is typically so low that one couldn't even pay the electric bill.

I think it is like one dollar interest per year for every $10,000 you have in their bank.

@CestManan I don't know what "all the money you’ve ever desired or dreamed of" is to you, but to me it's enough to live luxuriously off the interest...

You and the other guy dream too small lol.
JezUK · 31-35, M
@Blanchy The point was people who have enough money to "live off the interest" don't actually live off the interest.

People who dream of living off the interest never have enough money to do so.

@CestManan In Denmark it would be around $200 for every $10,000 per year, if counting the 2% interest we get if it's over 500.000 Danish kroner in a savings account.

$1 per year for every $10,000 is only 0,01%... 😐

@JezUK Why would they dream about it, if they had enough money to do it? 🤔
Mathew Perry didn't work. @JezUK
