A somewhat surreal experience…

Coming out of the bank, I held the door open for a woman with a toddler in a stroller.
The woman said nothing, but the child thanked me. ☺️

One small reward in life was, after my mother's constancy infused manners into me - and seeing later how powerful they are - and fighting constantly to build them into my four kids:
=> To take my grandkids out somewhere and experience the grace of their wonderful manners, all of them. Goodness! My kids got it and passed them on!!

Growing up I viewed these manners mum insisted on as if they were some external expectation of society for compliance. Later I realised how much they open doors because they dignify the people around you and yourself in the process. I guess I should say, thanks for posting! :)
