Should we...agree? (Please read the question below)

Should we be judged by our appearance? We should not be judged basis our looks and appearance but world does not operate on this value. Do you agree?

I faced it twice. I don't like wearing formals at all. I wore Jeans and a formal shirt (red colour/no design) to a professional interview. Interviewer liked my skill-set by Good Lord's grace.🙏 Yet, pointed out that I was 'too casual' when I was thoroughly professional during the interview.

They had a stringent dress code for the organisation which was complete formals. Therefore, I chose not to work with them. HR called me thrice and tried to convince me to understand the policy and give it a try but my life, my rules.

I wearing formals won't help me perform better but my skill-set would. Job needs skill-set not dress-code. Yes, dress-code should be decent not too casual. I understand that but complete formals policy sounds bull-sh*t to me. I feel tied in chains if I wear complete formals.

Share your experiences if you have any.😇

You weren't being judged on your appearance, you were being judged on how well you obey instructions. If they offered you the job, even though you didn't obey simple instructions to dress formal for the interview, then I'd say you were blessed to be called back.
But in the end, if you don't like any aspect of any employer, you're probably not going to excel there anyway.
Go for a job that suits you, if you have that option.

But since you passed on that job, don't come borrowing money from me............. I'm just sayin!!!

It's all past, OG. It happened 4 years ago.😇

😆😆😆
Receiving end comes with a price but having said that, I'd add once complied goes repeated in future too, if things ain't nipped in bud itself.
Stay put if you can wait financially.
Best!
@SoLeRiMix Yes, 10 hrs. Is certainly past. Life goes on.

Although what you say is true but it's easy to judge others. Political Correctness will not allow us to judge on disabled but it's easy to pick on clothes as clothes can be changed. So, disabled are given benefit of doubt but clothes are not sadly.

@Sazzio Sums it up!😇👍
Find a place you want to work. Unfortunately if they have a dress code then youll have to comply until you're the boss.

The ones that sign your paycheck make the rules.

That's what I did later. Gave interview somewhere else and got selected by Good Lord's grace...🙏😇

Well, where I work now, they do not have a dress-code policy. Thanks to Good Lord!🙏😇
Yer i know how you feel i think that you perform better if you are comfortable in the way you dress.
