Do you think that depression is selfish?

Especially if depressed people are those which brags always about it and seek attention. Do you think it's selfish of them? In my opinion they are kinda selfish. I had talk about it with a classmate, where she is such a happy go lucky person, always full of energy. We agreed that such a people can drain your energy out of you. Especially if you are emphatic person. What are thoughts on this topic? And do you agree or not? Or if you have experience with such a things.

Edit: To those before you try to understand my question I'll say it shortly, I don't make fun or take lightly depression, it's still serious condition, this questions is more about people who are using it as an excuse for attention. Because as I can see it cause quite ruckus :)

I suffer from it and very rarely do I seek out help or attention unless from somebody who is a professional. Sometimes, I feel the need to vent when things get too much but never do I seek attention for it as I've been around people who constantly say they're depressed and it is draining.

That said, I have known people that say they're depressed when they haven't been diagnosed like myself and that will even go as far as to harm themselves to get the attention. Which is both selfish and annoying as using something serious like that isn't right at all.
