Do you think that depression is selfish?

Especially if depressed people are those which brags always about it and seek attention. Do you think it's selfish of them? In my opinion they are kinda selfish. I had talk about it with a classmate, where she is such a happy go lucky person, always full of energy. We agreed that such a people can drain your energy out of you. Especially if you are emphatic person. What are thoughts on this topic? And do you agree or not? Or if you have experience with such a things.

Edit: To those before you try to understand my question I'll say it shortly, I don't make fun or take lightly depression, it's still serious condition, this questions is more about people who are using it as an excuse for attention. Because as I can see it cause quite ruckus :)

Like you say, anyone who is attention-seeking, self-centered and bragging about themselves, about anything, is annoying after a while. I think people are misunderstanding the intent of your original question, and that we all agree that true depression sucks. --DW

Yes exactly, thank you for understanding, I never meant something bad. Just those who are just using it as an excuse to make them feel better... Because I came across with a lot of people who acted that way and I can only say that it was really emotionally draining. True depression is very serious I never denied that.

The joy of online communication, lol... The older I get, the less I want to be around people who are all "me, me, me." Ugh.
