Why is it socially acceptable to be racist towards white people?

It is just as morally wrong and ugly for black people to be prejudiced against white people. But white people being prejudiced against people of color is not only morally wrong and ugly but much more socially destructive as well. More damage can be done by a large more powerful group of people than by a minority group.
