STEM is overrated. College shouldn't just be a means to get a job. There's value in education for education's sake. It isn't all about science, tech, and economics. We could do well to learn history, philosophy, literature, and rhetoric.

Philosophy is the type of thing anyone can just do at home. Being a philosopher doesn"t take much special training.

@MethDozer Economics in that it's about capitalistic ambition. An education used to be more well-rounded. Now that stops at high school for many and even that is subpar for a lot of people.
I'm not saying becoming a philosopher is a practical goal, but we should learn these things. It would help foster critical thinking. Especially in the "age of misinformation".
