Why do employers try to find fault?

I work 2 jobs and am very contentious at both. I'm getting so tired of the fact that when we have a monthly performance meeting they are picking the most minor things to critique.
Why do managers do this? Today after telling me that I had 86 good reviews this month she ends with telling me that I need to sound more confident because I'm conveying hesitancy. Well Im being recorded while working and Im trying to do my best. Sheesh

Yeah performance reviews are more about Supervisors and Managers justifying their own positions.

Illustrating to middle management they’re on top of things and have notified the workforce of areas with supposed room for improvement.

Stupid 80’s American corporate culture nonsense that some companies still cling to.

@Picklebobble2 I agree. But this company is supposed to be young and hip. Techie remote work. I thought that I was away from that mindset

@REMsleep Just keeping you on your toes and justifying it to middle-management.

When the job market improves look for something better. I would.
