What food were you fed as a child that you didn’t know was weird until you were an adult?

I had a grandmother who would hard boil eggs, mash them and then make breaded egg patties out of them for breakfast, or sandwiches. Wasn’t terrible. Just different. I’ve not ever known anyone else who did this.

A Romanian bread she called something like "momalicka". Yes a terrible name. It was a partly raised corn flour bread similar to a tortilla accept far thicker.

It was also a hidden joke among the rest of the family that none mentioned to her. 😁😈

@DeWayfarer it's actually "momaliga" and I like it with melted butter and feta cheese, right? - my wife's family has Romanian roots
I can imagine!! Lol @DeWayfarer we used to make fried polenta patties but this is steamed? Might be better.

@ImplodingVoices actually kind of liked it. No not steamed. At least she didn't have a steamer.


@tindrummer and yes lots of butter! We didn't have feta cheese so I never had it with that.
