As a senior in high school, I was once ranked 9th in my class of over 600. I also have two bachelor's degrees. Most people that know me would never guess it considering my life hasn't amounted to much.

I am not surprised actually. You are obviously very intelligent and unfortunately so many very intelligent people end up not doing much. I don't know why.

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: Depression and loneliness are common themes. I guess it's not as mind blowing here since I expose myself more, but in the flesh people are more incredulous

@HalfCactus: I think people just have to converse with someone like you once to tell you are a certain level of intelligence. But I understand what you are saying.

SW-User
@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: There's truth to that. Intelligent is the second most common word used to describe me, but quiet is the first. You can hide a lot with silence

SW-User
@HalfCactus: yes. You can hide a lot with silence only because most people will not bother to question it.

SW-User
@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: I think people would refrain from questioning even if I were more communicative. Questioning requires effort in either case, and people tend to follow the paths of least resistance

SW-User
@HalfCactus: yes most. But there will be some who would want to know more.

SW-User
@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: I'm sure there have been more than a few, but I don't make it easy for them. I'm pretty standoffish in social situations and won't ever really open up unless I'm alone with someone. Unfortunately, that type of privacy is virtually non-existent for me outside of the internet

SW-User
@HalfCactus: fair enough.
