Do you think we did anything wrong?
I live in a community that's broken up into 5 sections. Each section has a basketball (each court has multiple baskets), handball and tennis court. There are also 3 baseball fields for the community. There's a field in one of the sections that is suppose to be for European football and American football. However the field is terrible, playing on it will and has caused injuries.
During the pandemic we were playing European football on a nice leveled grass that we are allowed to play on and have different activities on. The field is about 3-4 blocks long, we played on a small portion of it. Most people loved seeing us play because no one use to play European football in our community. Some will watch us from their balconies and others will stop and watch as they walked or ran by us. Everyone that currently plays just met each other. We got to know our neighbors and became friends through playing. If it wasn't for this, most likely we would of never got to know each other.
I said most people loved seeing us play because we had certain neighbors that didn't want us to play on the field. Their reason was because we were "messing up" the grass. They would often yell at us from their balconies and called our community police on us many times. They couldn't do anything because we weren't doing anything wrong according to the rules. It got to the point that we started a petition for them to find us a suitable place to play. One day one of the board members came to speak to us. And said we could play across the street, on a vacant field. Honestly in my opinion, they just wanted to get rid of us.
So we go across the street to the field that's next to the baseball field. There are lights so we can play at night, however the light switch is on the baseball field side. So the only time we can play at night is if baseball is there. We asked them if we can get a key to turn on and off the lights like baseball. They told us no, and we would have to sign a petition to get our own lights. The truth is we don't need new lights, the baseball lights work just fine for us, We just need access.
As it stands now we can't play. I suggested we play on a basketball court that has lights. The court has 3 huge courts and 3 little ones in the back that they barely use. So a few of us who agreed decided to play there. The basketball players have no issues with us being there. When people come to play basketball we get off and move to the tennis court. Yesterday my friend and I were training on the courts which were completely empty. People would stop and watch us and even told us good job. I believe some of the people who were complaining about us playing on the field are now complaining that we are on the courts. Because the community police kept coming around and stopping right where we were. Another dude started recording us for some reason. Ironically he walked into the same building as one of the people who kept reporting us.
