Is money the root of all evil or can it also bring happyness?

People often say the love of money is the root of all evil. I feel it can also be a pathway to happyness. I am 31 living with my parents and have $0 savings and about $700 in my checking. I have a decent job but haven't been really good with my money. If I had about $20-$25k savings right now. I would be much happier. Not having any savings is always on the back of my mind. I am going to start saving from now on. It's just the time it will take to save up that's the hardest part. I feel like such a loser, which I am because I have been careless with my money. Had I been more discipline, I would have a lot saved up. I don't need or want to be millionaire just want to live a life comfort in which money isn't an issue. Started a T-shirt business with my friend that has great potential of making us decent money. Hopefully, things take work out.
