Why are humans so confident in beliefs that can’t be proven?

I think because there are different ways to determine truth.

I believe in things I could not prove to you, but that have been proven to me.

I'm not so sure they are.

If they were, you wouldn't have seen so many horrors committed in it's name.

Because they are scared of their own mortality and wish to believe there is something after it.

It's easy. Believing is simple, questioning everything isn't.

The need to find meaning and a desire for some kind of an afterlife.

For most the mind is a very powerful thing.
