What are your thoughts on Humanity during this Pandemic?

I've learned that life will always be a constant war between good and evil. During this pandemic I've seen a lot of good. People working together and risking their life's to help fight this virus. From Doctors, Nurses, Police, Firefighters, Grocery Store workers etc.... the list goes on. There's also many people volunteering to provide food and other things to people who need it. However I've also seen a lot of greed and selfishness. From people using this as a way to benefit financially to people refusing to stay home when they don't need to go out.

I live in NYC which has the most cases in America, I continue to see people gathering in large crowds to play sports, party, and just hangout. I don't like stay homing myself, however I would rather stay home for a couple to a few months rather than push this thing along further. I would sacrifice not going out so life can somewhat return to normal. Even though there's a Pandemic on going people are still commenting crimes of violence despite hospitals being overwhelmed. Just yesterday there were 4 shootings in the city.

Its times like this that people need to put their difference aside and work together. Because that's the only way we can get through this. This Pandemic has changed my life and helped me realized who I am and what is really important in the world and life. Which are Family, Friends and the bonds we have with each other. I've spent 10 yrs of my life chasing the wrong things and following the wrong path. And I pray everyday that my past does not follow me. I've just began to change my life around and hopefully live up to my full potential.

It's probably just where I live, but for every one person trying to reduce the spread, there are 5 more just hanging out and having parties. Not to mention hoarders literally camping out and waiting on paper products to get on the store shelves. Yes. Camping. Since the lockdown they stick to their cars, but the point stands.

@raysam363 Its truly sad, the more they continue like this the more it will spread. But Thank you for doing your part.
raysam363 · 31-35, F
@kydflash It's not hard, just stay home unless you absolutely need to go out. Even then, when going to get groceries know what you're getting and move fast. Humans are a wild card though.

@raysam363 Agreed couldn't have said it better.

Difficult times always bring out the worst or the best in people. We are seeing this clearly.

@curiosi That's so true, Thank you and Stay safe.

I am so grateful for those great individuals that you have pointed out in your piece above. Thank you for social distancing, not hoarding, and best of luck moving forward.

@Fauxmyope2 Thank you very much, Best of luck to you as well and stay safe.

You can see the best and the worst in people at this time. The lesson to learn here is that we are not in control of anything in life, even with all the progress we have made.
kydflash · 31-35, M
@msros Very true, well said. Thank you.

There are people who have oppositional personalities and will not take suggestions or orders from anyone. Some so nasty that they’ll deliberately wipe snot and spit where people touch just to sicken others, and buy up essential foods & medical, items so others can’t have them. I have seen some videos where they were bragging or flaunting it. Need to be dealt with.
kydflash · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti I've seen many videos of what you are referring to and it sickens and frustrates me so much. There most definitely need to be consequences for their actions. Best of luck to you.

I gave up on humanity long ago and this just confirms everything even more. Human driven climate change and resource extration is far far worse than this virus and humanity responds to it in the same way. Too little too late and even when it's too late most people just ignore it going on business as usual.
kydflash · 31-35, M
@Earthwrap Honestly I can't blame you. Whenever I start to give up on humanity. I always think of Pandoras Box and how when opened, all the worlds evil was let out. But on the bottom of the box read the word "Hope". I've come to realize that Hope is the last thing to die. Hopefully one day my friend your faith in humanity will return.
Earthwrap · 41-45, M
@kydflash nope. hope becomes a more negative value all the time. The more you learn... My only goal in life now is to be as self sufficient as possible and separated from this nightmare of a species. I live my life in an ethical, sustainable, and positive way as possible but unfortunantly it is very unpopular these days and very lonely.
kydflash · 31-35, M
@Earthwrap I understand your point of view. Best of wishes and Stay safe.

Yes but ya can't control what others do...you need to do what is right, help others and take care of your family and those you can help. Perhaps people will move toward a trust in God who have made Him an enemy in the past.
kydflash · 31-35, M
@SW-User That's true, im definitely doing the best I can. Wish you and your family the best in these tough times.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Perhaps this is the opportunity for us to put many things in perspective
kydflash · 31-35, M
@JoeyFoxx Most definitely true, it has opened my eyes to many things.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Very nicely said. I agree.
kydflash · 31-35, M
@Carissimi Thank you, best of wishes.

My views are very cynical and hostile.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Why do you say that?Is that from your personal observations where you live?@SW-User
