Lots of people feel that if you can turn on and off aspects of your personality like a switch?

... you're eitjer not to be trusted or otherwise shifty. Why is that?
You'd think that's just a healthy way to be, to be different things at the times that suit it. There seems to be this idea in life that we're supposed to be consistent at all times, and it's a pipe dream.

Thats like playing roles you need wearing specific masks for people...I know one person like that..that I have 0 trust for them now

@SW-User I totally agree, it's like playing roles. It's fun to do that because society says it's wrong.
Anyone is capable of this - we wear masks in various situations. Your mind/brain/psyche will do what it must do to protect itself. Regardless of how it comes off to others, your personality is not constant

@Jouskan47 Very true, however society tells us that a normal person is consistent and that it's a bad thing to be otherwise. Just another way in which we're fooling ourselves.
@ItsABlueWorld society has many definitions of normality - which is an illusion. List the traits of someone that is 'normal' and you will describe some kind of personality disorder

'Healthy' can be a relative term in this context. Not everything that helps us cope or move on is necessarily healthy. Consistency is an essential element to the foundation of trust, how else could you really trust someone otherwise?

I think it is to a certain degree... that it can be shut off is the off-putting part about it all. But I get in a super tragic situation, needing to compartmentalize it...is for ones well being.
