Have you ever been interested in something that you don't really like?

That would be psychology for me. Something just seems really off about it. It's annoying but still quite interesting.

I think I understand what you are saying. I am highly interested in Psychology, but yet it is too text book, too structured or boxed in and mostly humans trying to label other (multi faceted) humans as if they are this or that or this. I think some arrogantly/wrongly try to diagnose others based on limited short term knowledge.

@Magenta yes, this, that's a very annoying aspect of it.

@HannibalAteMeOut Indeed, I so relate. It's bordering on dysfunction. Some don't even have a knowledge of true human nature at it's core, yet try and diagnose.

@Magenta many of them just project their own complexes on others too and think everybody thinks like they think.

@Magenta I study it atm and I think the best psychologists are people who try to solve a person's life around the problems. The definitions and labels are mostly guidelines and some of them are very specific.

@Ryannnnnn Oh nice, good for you. :-)
Guidelines are good as long as they aren't labels stuck in cement, lol. Personally I don't think any human can "solve" another humans life. Trying to understand, relate and help is the best psychologist, me thinks.

@HannibalAteMeOut
many of them just project their own complexes on others too and think everybody thinks like they think.
Exactly! Quite biased too I would think.

@Magenta From being someone who has been in therapy and who has solved their own problems over many years that was what solved it, getting the main building blocks of a life in place. Purpose and something to move towards, healthy habits, exercise, lack of bad habits, living honestly, following your passions and being diciplined and accountable. I didn't listen to a couple of therapists who told me those things because I wasn't ready to listen but I figured that out through people like Jordon Peterson/my own experience.

Imo labels and diagnosis are only relevant when its a very specific problem that requires specific methods. Medication is a last resort and used to ease suffering or maintain something that is needed if the problem can't be solved or if it will take time to solve.
