How to stop my father from freaking out about money?

Whilst he annoys me for years now, I should use every single chance for getting money, even if not really legally, he freaks out whenever he even thinks he should pay for anything. But on the other hand he backs off as soon as he's caught gifting my mother with expensive unnecessities.
