When someone says "there are other ways to distract yourself", do they have something in mind?
Or is it just a saying?

Im fairly certain it is just a saying, but whenever you hear it they seem to emphasise the "other ways" as if they do have something in mind. I don't know if the "other ways" is a reference to what you were doing or what they think you should do doing.
@Johnblackthorn I told her I used to watch sports, she said she wouldn't. When I said I wouldn't anymore but still needed to distract myself, she mentioned these "other ways".
